Tournament Participation Confirmation Due July 13!

The Alberta Field Lacrosse Association will hold its first field tournament of the 2026 season: The Alberta Lacrosse Celebration Weekend in Sylvan Lake, AB. This tournament is running in conjunction with the 2026 Prairie Cup box lacrosse tournament in Red Deer.

Field tournaments this year will look a little different from what you have seen in the past if you are a returning player. GAME PLAY FOR EACH DIVISION WILL BE SCHEDULED ON BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. This is being done to provide players with more game play opportunities.

IMPORTANT:

We do not have the game schedule yet. However, we do know that players need to be available to play both days (Saturday AND Sunday).
Players must be assigned to a team by their home club BEFORE they can play. Players who have not confirmed their attendance at a field tournament may not simply show up and be added to a roster.
All of the field tournaments for 2026 are at locations away from Red Deer. Tournament #1 is based solely at the Four Seasons Sport Park in Sylvan Lake, AB.

Player tournament fees are part of the AFLA portion of their fees to their club. There are no additional tournament fees that you need to pay. However, players/parents are responsible for transportation, meals/food, and accommodations only (if you opt to stay overnight in Sylvan Lake/Red Deer).

The Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club confirms player attendance before each field day, and we use this information to create the teams we field in each age division. Field days occur on summer weekends, and we appreciate that there will be weekends where players may not be able to participate.

ACTION REQUIRED: Please confirm whether or not your player will be participating in Field Tournament #1by completing our digital tournament play confirmation form. The submission deadline is MONDAY, JULY 13, 2026.

We build our teams, select affiliate players, and populate game sheet information for the field tournament based on player confirmations of attendance. We require a very accurate count of players who are attending. Please do NOT indicate that you are intending unless you can do so. We will be capping our rosters at 16 players to ensure players receive adequate playing time.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you declare that your player is attending the field day, s/he will be rostered, and we expect them to play. Barring very exceptional circumstances (e.g. death in the family, illness, or injury), we need all players who have indicated that they are playing to attend the field day.
We will build our rosters around this information, and unplanned or short-notice withdrawals create significant work for our club's volunteers and impact the play schedules of other AFLA member clubs.
Our club can also be fined if we indicate that we will field a team, but subsequently find that we do not have adequate player numbers to follow through on this commitment.
