AIR QUALITY UPDATE - SYLVAN LAKE TOURNAMENT

GAMES AT THE AFLA FIELD TOURNAMENT ARE CANCELLED THIS MORNING DUE TO SMOKE AND THE RESULTING POOR AIR QUALITY

The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) for Central Alberta is currently at 7.  In accordance with AFLA Regulations, play is not permitted when the AQHI is 7 or higher.  

Today's schedule has been impacted, and this morning's games have been postponed.

ACTION PLAN

• AFLA will complete another AQHI assessment at 10:00 AM and make a final decision regarding this afternoon's games.
• If the AQHI is forecast to be below 7, game play will resume at 2:00 PM using the existing Saturday schedule for afternoon play.
• If the conditions do not improve and the AQHI remains at 7 or higher today, but improve tomorrow, AFLA will run a condensed game schedule to complete as many games as possible.  Additional updates will be provided if this becomes necessary.
• Please continue to monitor our social media and AFLA's social media for the 10:00 AM update.

The health and safety of our athletes, officials, coaches, volunteers and spectators remains our collective priority.  Smoke inhalation during sport can have serious impacts on health.
