Meet Our Coaching Staff

The Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club's coaching staff are all experts in their own right.  All are NCCP certified and bring years of lacrosse experience to the field.  They are committed professionals who are passionate about supporting players to acquire strong, foundational lacrosse skills and grow as individuals.

Men's Field Coaches

Paul Rai - Technical Director/Coach

Paul brings extensive lacrosse experience to the Edmonton Razorbacks.  As a coach, Paul has coached teams at all levels of lacrosse, from elementary-school-aged players to Junior A men’s teams.  He has led Team Alberta box and field lacrosse teams to the Canadian national championships on multiple occasions.  Certified to coach both men’s and women’s field lacrosse, Paul has served as a coach in both disciplines of the field game at tournaments across Canada and the United States.  He dedicates hours of time to coaching minor lacrosse teams across the Edmonton area.

Paul is passionate about lacrosse and has introduced hundreds of athletes to the game.  In his role as the Director, Vimy Lacrosse (Vimy Ridge Academy, Edmonton, AB),  Paul created a unique development model for junior and senior high student-athletes interested in combining academics with field and box lacrosse development within the Edmonton Public School Board. Under Paul’s direction, Vimy Lacrosse’s growth as a program exceeded 1000% growth in 11 years.

Paul is an NCCP certified coach clinician for both men’s and women’s field lacrosse.

Paul’s lacrosse experience started over 30 years ago with the Gold Bar Miners, which transformed into today’s Edmonton Miners Club. He played his minor lacrosse with Gold Bar Miners and traveled to many national championships with the organization. As an adult, he played Senior lacrosse with the Miners, and then with the Edmonton Outlaws where he was the player/coach of the 2002 Presidents Cup National Champions.

Paul attended Dartmouth College (NCAA) and played four years of Division I hockey for the Big Green. His experience at Dartmouth taught him about the skills required to be a successful student-athlete; information he graciously shares with athletes interested in pursuing lacrosse in college.

Cris Anderson - Men's Coaching Director/Coach

In 2009, along with Patrick Wilmms and Russ Shepard, Cris Anderson was one of the first coaches to coach for the Edmonton Razorbacks.  He coached Razorbacks athletes in the club’s inaugural season and has been on the field ever since.

Cris began his coaching career in Calgary with the Calgary Axeman.  He has since gone on to coach several different clubs including the Junior. A Eclipse (alongside Rioth Jomha and NLL coach, Dave Pym).  Cris is currently the Director - Men’s Coaching Director for the Razorbacks.  Prior to joining the Razorbacks, Cris coached for the Edmonton Field Lacrosse Club for many years.  He is also currently an Assistant Coach with the U16 A North team (box lacrosse) and the Head Coach for the St. Albert Miner Senior C Team.

In addition to dedicating time to coaching lacrosse, Cris played since 1988.  He was a member of the Senior B Rams, the Slash, the Senior C Tomahawks and the Senior C Miners.
